I have a friend or family member who is struggling, what should I do?

  • Let them know that you love them and that you care.

  • Let them know that treatment works.

  • Let them know they are not alone, 1 in 5 people currently have a mental health challenge.

  • Educate yourself about mental illness.

  • Seek your own support from friends, family, and trusted people in your life.

  • Get treatment for yourself. Treatment can help with setting boundaries, coping with stress, and feeling less anxious. This puts you in the position to help your loved one. I would be happy to speak with you about individual therapy.

  • If your loved one is in immediate danger, please call 911 or take them to your local emergency room.

Will you speak with me if I am interested in therapy for a friend or family member?

  • To determine fit, it is generally more effective if I speak directly with your loved one.
